On the 11 May 2012, mei mei and I attended our first lesson in the new art center. Mama found this center via a free magazine. Both mei mei and I was excited and enjoyed our first lesson very much.
Our teacher was a very friendly and soft spoken teacher. During the 2 hours lesson she praised and motivated us. Teacher said mei mei was very neat while tracing the dotted line and said I'm a very creative boy! She guided us step by step and did not rush while teaching. We started off with colour pencils first.
During our first lesson, teacher gave both of us the same piece of paper (a picture with a tree and a house). She said it was a test to determine our creativity and strength. We are free to add whatever picture we wanted into that piece of paper and colour them according to the colour we wanted.
Mei mei traced the dotted line and colour the picture. She chose black and orange for the cloud. Pink for the ground. Teacher did not comment on the colour she chose because teacher said it was based on her own idea. There is no right or wrong. Teacher even praised mei mei as she managed to colour the picture inside the line, neatly. For her age, she is good. Mei mei told teacher there was a cat sleeping inside the house. That was why we cannot see in the picture. Actually, mei mei doesn't know how to draw and wanted to act smart. To my surprised, teacher praised that she is very creative to create a story from the picture !
Mine was different. With that piece of paper, I drew a dog, a few bones, a big plot of farms with ripe carrots and a car. Teacher was impressed with my drawing and said I'm a creative boy. I drew all the picture myself and coloured them with proper colours. Skies are blue, clouds are white, grounds are brown and so on. After completing the art, teacher let me passed with flying colours. I could skipped to level 2 while mei mei have to continue with level 1 first.
I'm not sure what teacher will be teaching in level 1 or 2, but I'm indeed proud of myself !
